Caring for Your Delicates:

The best way to ensure the longest life of your luxury lingerie is hand washing. We recommend a quality lingerie wash. If the longevity of your garment isn’t a concern and you prefer machine wash only, place the lingerie in a mesh laundry bag and place the washer on the “gentle cycle” setting. Never use the machine dryer. Heat warps and stretches the garment's fibers. Heat also causes the elastic in the bands to lose their “stretchability.” Air drying will double the life of all your lingerie. Eliminate wrinkles by lightly steaming your garment. Silks can be ironed from the side with the iron set on the lowest setting. Be very careful as high heat or steam can damage the garment. 

 

Caring for Your Ostrich Feathers:

Using a very soft brush (like a paintbrush) can remove most particles from the feathers. Always lightly brush from the spine of the feather outwards. If the feathers must be washed, a delicate white soap should be used dissolved in warm water. Lightly swish the feathers back and forth in the soapy water (do NOT squeeze). Hang to dry upside down from a hanger. Do NOT lay flat, this will cause the feathers to lose their fluffiness. Once dry, use a hair dryer set on its lowest setting to fluff out the feathers. If the feathers still appear a bit “clumpy” use some steam along with your hair dryer to fluff them out. 

 

Caring for Your Fur Items:

Always store your fur in a cool, dry place and out of the sun. This will help keep all of the natural oils in the fur and prevent the sun from having a “bleaching effect” on the garment. Hang your garment on a full wooden hanger and give it “room” in your closet. Avoid perfumes, hairspray and smoke so the odors don’t get trapped in your garment or upset the natural balance of oils in the fur. 

Light stains can be removed with a solution of one-part isopropyl alcohol and one-part water applied directly to the stain and then blot with a highly absorbent towel. NEVER use any type of cleaner, no matter how gentle it is. Your garment should be cleaned by a professional at least once a year to remove dirt and reapply the oils to preserve the fur.
